The Address "60 Old Town Park Road" is a famous one in Pickup sports circles, as it is that of the legendary home of the Southern New Milford Football concern since their inaugural season in 1995.
After a brief stint playing upon the lawn of founding member Chris Rooney, the fledgling football concern outgrew their home field and opted to move just over half a mile southeast to Hill and Plain School. Although not an official sports field of any particular sort, the vast expanse was one of the few flat public surfaces on the otherwise hilly southern end of New Milford.
Surrounded by hills itself, the playing field serves as a draining area, and is almost always muddy during the fall, regardless of weather conditions. As fall turns to winter, the field freezes solid. Hill and Plain is ripe with historical character as well, as much of the concern's roster attended elementary school there during the mid-1980's. Many of their families still reside within a few miles of the field. Located in the heart of Southern New Milford, the field would be easily accessible for fans, in the event the Concern were ever to have any. |
