One Man Out?
Hoose faces possible disciplinary action over gambling allegations.
New Milford (AP)- The pickup football community was stunned today to learn that SNMFC mainstay Jeff Hoose may soon be banned from pickup football amidst rumors that he is connected to known gamblers. Eyebrows were raised around the football concern when he relocated from Los Angeles to Las Vegas this past September.
Rumors circulated that the two-time Theisman Trophy winner had secured employment at a major Race & Sportsbook on the Las Vegas Strip. Hoose dismissed the rumors as, "groundless, an insult to myself and to the game", yet his decision to address these rumors in the October 25 edition of The Daily Racing Form, only further fueled suspicion.
It is well known that Hoose has spent much of the past year unemployed or underemployed, and his financial situation, combined with his undeniable proximity to the sports gaming industry, has led to speculation that he may be involved in a plot to fix the highly-anticipated Jiblet Jam VIII this Thanksgiving. It is not known whether enough evidence has been gathered to issue either a temporary suspension or a lifetime ban against Hoose. The self-proclaimed, "Evolutionary Herb Welch", maintains his innocence and vows that he will start in the November 25 contest, proclaiming, I am not involved in gambling, in any way whatsoever. |
Tom Sizemore will portray embattled pickup footballer Jeff Hoose in the upcoming ESPN Original Film, "HOO$TLE". |
